Web portals and applications in TYPO3

As a content management system (CMS), TYPO3 is a powerful tool that can not only be used to develop powerful websites. It is also ideal for setting up database-supported web applications, so-called portals.

Forms can be used to request input parameters from the user, which are then processed together with information stored in the database and then trigger a specific output or action.

An output can then be a specific product or service that matches the data entered. However, an action can also take place, such as the transfer of data or files to clerks stored in the database. A price can also be calculated immediately for more complex services.

Example translation portal for TNT

A good example of such a portal is TNT - The Native Translator. TNT is an international translation agency that offers online translations of documents by qualified translators.

The portal we developed for TNT asks the customer for the source and target language, the specialism and allows multiple files to be uploaded.

The application then calculates the number of words or pages and provides the customer with a binding price for the translation with or without certification and with or without a paper copy.

The translation can then be ordered immediately by the customer and paid for directly via a payment service provider.

Once payment has been made, the order and the document to be translated are sent to the relevant international translators. The translators then upload the finished translation back to the portal and the customer receives a notification that their order is ready and can be downloaded.

Vacancy and job search at Executive Circle

Executive Circle offers a portal for searching for vacancies or open positions in the healthcare sector, worldwide. Potential clients can indicate in which area they want to work, their salary expectations and where in the world they are willing to work.

The portal was developed by us in TYPO3 and primarily offers front-end editing. This means that the administrator of the portal does not have to log in to TYPO3 to manage the vacancies and clients, but can do this directly via the website. This has made it possible to adapt the design of the administration to the customer's wishes and to prepare it graphically.

Here the customer can select a product group, define the key data for the product and make an enquiry directly.

The product generator immediately generates the correct product number for customer enquiries, as it is stored in SAP at Petermann Technik. This means that the entire process can be handled quickly and easily at Petermann.
