Interfaces between external hardware and data processing
Modern computers have a variety of interfaces to communicate with other hardware. The best-known interfaces are probably those used to connect a monitor or to connect a keyboard or mouse to the computer.
In addition to the interfaces mentioned above, there are a number of others that address special external devices. These are generally divided into parallel interfaces (e.g. Centronix, LPT1, LPT2 or printer interface) and serial interfaces (COM1, COM2, RS-232, USB or Firewire). Special interfaces such as RS-488, current loop, fibre optic etc. are also used to connect special devices to a computer under a wide variety of conditions.
FSnD has many years of experience with all these interfaces. We build connections to specialised printers via RS-232, RS-488 and current loop. We have applications that read information from scanners via SCSI, RS-232, RS-488 and USB.
We also have applications that exchange information with Siemens Simatic S5 and S7 via Profibus, RS-488, RS-422 and special parallel interface cards.
In addition, we develop so-called GENERIC DRIVER for the control application FACTS from Tecan.
